R2-D2 Tamagotchi
The R2-D2 Tamagotchi is a Tamagotchi release based on the robot R2-D2 from Star Wars. Bandai worked with Star Wars to create this special version. It was announced on May 4, 2021, then they showed everyone what it looked like on August 2, 2021. People all over the world could buy it starting in November 2021.
Design
The R2-D2 Tamagotchi’s design is the same no matter where region you buy it. But there’s one small difference. In Japan, the part where you put the batteries has a tab you push to open. In other countries, this part has a screw instead.
When you play with the device, it makes beeping sounds that sound like R2-D2 from the movies. These sounds are a bit different from regular Tamagotchi sounds to make them more like the robot.

Story
Star Wars is a popular franchise made by George Lucas, a famous movie maker. It all started with a movie called “Star Wars: A New Hope” that came out in 1977. Lucas’ company, Lucasfilm, made it, and 20th Century Fox (now called 20th Century Studios) put it in theaters.
The first Star Wars movie is a big space adventure story. It happens “a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.” In this made-up galaxy, there’s an evil group called the Galactic Empire that controls everything. A group of good guys called the Rebel Alliance is trying to fight them. The rebels want to blow up the Empire’s new weapon, called the Death Star.
The movie follows a young guy named Luke Skywalker. He gets mixed up in this fight and learns about something called “the Force” from a teacher named Obi-Wan Kenobi. The Force is like a special power in the Star Wars world.
R2-D2 is a robot (they call them “droids” in Star Wars) that’s been in every Star Wars movie except one called “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” R2-D2 and his robot friend C-3PO help out the good guys in all the movies.
Gameplay
Arrival and Upgrading When you start the R2-D2 Tamagotchi, you’ll see the famous Star Wars words “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” Then the Star Wars logo shows up. After that, R2-D2 rolls onto the screen.
As you take care of R2-D2, he changes forms. After 24 hours, he turns into one of 9 basic forms. Two days later, he changes into a special form. Three days after that, he goes back to his starting form and the cycle starts over.
Buttons There are no pictures on the screen to press. You use real buttons to take care of R2-D2. He has two needs: Hunger and Happiness. Each need has four levels that you need to fill. R2-D2 gets hungry every hour and less happy every 50 minutes. If either gets empty, he’ll call for help.
You can press the C button to see what R2-D2 needs. The A button opens the main menu where you can feed or clean R2-D2. The B button shows the clock. Pressing A and C together turns the sound on or off.
Training Games There are 9 different games you can play with R2-D2. Two games are always there, and the others show up when R2-D2 is in different forms. Playing games makes R2-D2 happier.
The games include things like putting out fires, playing chess (called Dejarik in Star Wars), catching lightsabers, and flying spaceships. Each game has different rules and ways to win.
Obstacles Sometimes, R2-D2 faces problems. He might get dusty or be attacked by enemy ships. You need to help him by pressing buttons. If you don’t help for a long time, R2-D2 might break down.
Malfunction If you ignore R2-D2 for too long, he’ll break down. You’ll see all his tools sticking out at once. You need to press the A button twice to fix him.
R2-D2’s Monitor At certain times of the day, you’ll see little scenes from Star Wars. These show different characters and events from the movies. For example, at 10:00 AM you might see Jawas, and at 7:00 PM you might see Yoda.
Jawa Capture R2-D2 doesn’t die in this game. But if you don’t take care of him for a very long time, he’ll shut down. You’ll see Jawas (little desert creatures from Star Wars) carrying him away. Don’t worry though – you can always start over with a new R2-D2 by pressing A and C together.
This game has lots of Star Wars stuff in it to make you feel like you’re really taking care of R2-D2 from the movies.
